Coronavirus Lockdown Day 60: Dressing Cool

While I will never complain about sunshine and hot weather, I do acknowledge that dressing cool is essential. The weather has been glorious here in North Yorkshire for the last few days, (though it’s wildly windy today), and it’s forecast to stay for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend. A rare occurrence indeed. The last few days, I’ve been wearing beach dresses, the sort I wear every day on holiday. The sort that look super over a bikini when heading for breakfast or lunch. But, they’re just a little bit too short or too sheer, to wear when I’m out and about here.

So, throughout lockdown, I’ve been looking for a dress that is cool and breezy, one that I can take abroad year after year and that I can wear here in the UK too. And while I appreciate that none of us are going out socially right now, it’s still nice to have a cool dress to wear for a barbecue or a G&T in the garden.

This beautiful white dress ticks all of the boxes. It’s made from 100% linen so it’s cool and lightweight. It’s a loose fit so it can be layered over wide-legged trousers. And it can be dressed up or down. A pair of flip flops and a basket make dressing cool a breeze.

Wedge sandals, a red lip, jewellery and a clutch make for a perfect sundowner look.

It’s from Geg and Hen, a start-up business which makes high-end ethical clothing from sustainable linen. Every piece is handmade in Yorkshire, (yay), using a Slow Fashion Concept. They make items on demand which reduces surplus stock and wastage and use leftover linen to make roomy tote bags. This is a wise investment piece and one I know I’ll wear year after year both home and abroad.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and I’ll be back next week x
